Nihan Ulutan (b. 1999, Ankara) was accepted into the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf in 2018. She completed her bachelor's degree with distinction, ranking among the top three students.
Ulutan has garnered numerous accolades, including third prize at the 2015 Ankara National Piano Competition, first prize at the 2016 Baku Music Academy Competition, and third prize at the 2017 Stockholm International Piano Competition. As the founder of the Azalea Trio, she was awarded second prize at the 2023 Clara Schumann Chamber Music Competition. She has performed in countries such as Germany, Sweden, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, collaborating with various orchestras. In the same year, she appeared as a soloist with the Muğla Symphony Orchestra at a festival honoring her Mentor İdil Biret.
In 2020, she was invited to perform at the Beethoven 250th Anniversary Memorial Festival in Missouri, USA. In 2023, her short film celebrating Rachmaninoff’s 150th birthday was exhibited at the Kunstpalast, one of Germany’s most prestigious art museums. That same year, she founded a Women’s Choir in Germany and presented her own composition at a concert organized as part of the UEFA Euro 2024 events.
Ulutan has worked with world-renowned artists, including Sergejs Osokins, Marek Drewnowski, Ayşegül Sarıca, Gülsin Onay, Misha Dacic, Roland Batik, Claudius Tanski, Stefan Mehlig, and Pamela Mia Paul. She has also performed in concerts with Joseph Paratore at the Salzburg Mozarteum Academy. Her education includes orchestral conducting with Christian von Gehren, theory with Hans Peter Reutter, vocal studies with Katharina Woesner, chamber music with Hans Eijscakers, and jazz piano with Joshua Bredemeier.
Between 2011 and 2019, she studied regularly with İdil Biret and participated in masterclasses at the Ayvalık International Music Academy, where she also performed in many concerts.
Nihan Ulutan is currently pursuing her master’s degree under Paolo Giacometti at the Robert Schumann Hochschule.
